About Lumen

Lumen is a study app for high school students sitting the HSC. Make a practice paper on your syllabus, get it marked with feedback, and turn what you missed into flashcards, all in one place.

What Lumen does

Most study tools do one thing. Lumen puts the whole loop in one place: practice papers set out like the HSC exam, marking with a mark per point and a band for extended responses, flashcards made from the questions you lost marks on, notes, homework and exam tracking, and a tutor that explains things in your syllabus's words.

Practice papers and quizzes for your courses and topics, including full papers in the HSC layout.
AI marking of typed or photographed handwritten answers, with what would lift each answer.
Flashcards with spaced review, and a short daily warm-up.
Progress by course: what you've covered, a revision plan and a predicted band, which is always an estimate.
English texts: themes and quotes, checked word for word against your own copy of the text.

Who it's for

Lumen is made for Year 11 and 12 students, mainly in New South Wales. Content follows the NSW syllabuses and the HSC by default, in Australian spelling. Students in other states and overseas get their own curriculum. Lumen is for students only: there are no parent or teacher accounts.

How we build it

For learning, not for handing in. Our terms ask students not to submit AI-written work as their own.
Private by default. We never sell data or show ads, and nothing students write is used to train AI. Our AI providers keep no copies of requests.
Calm. No guilt about streaks, and limits are mentioned only when you're close to them.
Independent. Lumen isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any school or exam authority.

What it costs

Free has everything you need to study every day, with daily limits. Paid is $9.99 a month or $69 a year (AUD) and raises those limits for exam season. Every new account gets 5 credits to try Paid, no card needed. See pricing.
